Research Interests

I am particularly interested in employing bioinformatic tools to address fundamental biological questions. In my undergraduate research, I investigated gene duplications that may contribute to the unique traits of the Black Soldier Fly, an experience that sparked my interest in the evolutionary biology of insects. In my PhD project, I will work on newly annotated genomes of 304 Drosophila species, where I will use comparative genomics to investigate how ecological factors shape the evolutionary patterns of the immune system. The goal of this research is to provide valuable insights into the role of ecology in driving the evolution of Drosophila.
